Startlogic's
pricing structure offers users a great value.
The
basic plan costs about $4.95 / month and this plan offers you a good
amount of features. The best offer with this plan is that you will
be able to host 10 Domains with the $4.95 / month plan. The basic
plan (ProLogic) is also good for some who would want to run an online
store or someone who already has an existing online business. You
get a free domain, free ecommerce shopping cart,MySQL database, free
website creator, forums, search engine promotion tools and lots more
with all the hosting plans.

Reliability
In
comparison to the rest of the web hosting companies,
StarLogic's
servers seem to be above average. I had several web hosting accounts
with StarLogic, and generally their server would always remain up.
Throughout my year of testing their services, their server has been
down only for a few hours. This is not acceptable, but it is great
in comparison to the majority of web hosting companies that is except
for the web hosting companies ranking higher.
Data Center
StarLogic's
data center is located in Phoenix, Ariz.
provides
the technology necessary to keep your website or server fully operational
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The custom designed facility provides
redundant optical fiber connections through Cox, Qwest, and ELI,
in addition to multiple Internet back-bone providers, including
UUNET, Broadwing, and Global Crossing, making scaling bandwidth
faster and much more affordable.
In
addition, the data center is custom designed with raised floors,
HVAC temperature control systems, redundant power, UPS back-up and
power conditioning systems and generators. They also provide 24/7
physical security; including smoke detection and fire suppression
systems, motion sensors, biometric access controls, as well as video
surveillance and security breach alarms.
Customer
Service
StarLogic's
customer service has improved within the past few months.
Whenever
you called in the past, you would be put on hold for more over minutes.
They would then possibly direct you to an answering service if you
were on hold too long or if they were receiving other calls. With
recent improvements, now you can usually get a hold of someone within
five to ten minutes. Their phone number also becomes busy quite often
during certain times of the day. Furthermore, when you are a new user
with the system, they do not take orders over the phone. Instead,
they require that you place the order online. If you actually do manage
to get hold of the staff at StarLogic, their answers are normally
sufficient. However, not all customer support representatives seemed
properly trained. They claim to have over 60 employees within the
company.
Control
Panel
StarLogic is currently using VDECK 2.0
5. It pretty much has all
the features that you need to manage your site, however, Hsphere
control panel still takes the lead. VDECK 2.0 lacks a sufficient website
editing program and the control panel is missing several advanced
features for users, such as throttling for higher end users.
Overall
In general, StarLogic is a competent
web hosting company. Besides
the fact that at times it can be difficult to get a hold of anyone
at StarLogic, they have a high level of uptime and the most features
of their hosting package are on par with those of their competitors.
StarLogic is worth a shot if you are new to web hosting, because
they offer consumers one of the best values out there.
